Collage
Boué developed a collage practice between 2020 and 2023 for her Arts Council England funded Neurophototherapy Project. Joining a global collage community on Instagram, regularly publishing her collage works online, leading to several journal and book features.
For Boué, collage offers a redemptive process, making fragments whole when ritual and allusion become embedded in strata-like layers. Her work is experimental, employing collage and decollage to capture the present time. Boué’s collages are highly responsive to image sources, and the sensory qualities of properties of paper are extremely important to her. Her subjects are thus fluid while a drive for order and resolution underlie them. The texture and print quality of an image source determine a sense of flow. How papers adhere to a substrate is key to this feeling; delicate papers may melt into the substrate while others resist.

Between 2021 and 2023, Boué published collages on Instagram as part of a global community of online collagists, including the Contemporary Collage Magazine and collage collector, Laurie Kanyer. This led to a collaboration with Pernille Fraser, visual editor for Ought Journal of Autistic Culture, on two Ought Journal Covers features and a collage feature.

Crip Time, SAND Journal, 2022
Crip Time is a series of eight collages responding to the Documenta Research Trip (June 2022), for which a selected group of disabled artists and curators travelled to Kassel in Germany, supported by Arts Council England. Three collages from the series were selected for SAND Journal: Literature and Art, Issue 25, 2022. This international research trip for a majority disabled cohort felt historic and radical, engendering an esprit de corps reminiscent of the film Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution (2020).
The full series forms a visual essay and a purposeful critique of the predominance of words (both written and spoken) in the visual arts. Inspired by the Grimmwelt documenta 15 exhibition site, the artist refers to archetypes from the Grimms’ Fairy Tales and events in Kassel. Drawing on the collage care methodology of Laurie Kanyer (eBook Collage Care: Transforming Emotions and Life Experiences with Collage, 2021), Boué employs the subconscious as her spirit guide.

Collage Care: The Method
During the R&D phase of the Neurophototherapy project, Boué joined a global network of online collagists, including an ongoing collaboration with collagist, collector and founder of Collage Care, Laurie Kanyer. In 2023, the Doug + Laurie Kanyer Art Collection supported Boué's publication Neurophototherapy: Playfully Unmasking with Photography and Collage. Boué has written the Foreword for Collage Care: The Method, which also features two of her collages, Situation update and Hand on heart (let the healing begin). Both were created in 2022. The latter is held in The Kanyer Art Collection.

Collage Care: The Method 2
For this second Collage Care: The Method publication, Boué worked closely with Laurie Kanyer, testing each Collage Care exercise, leading to the inclusion of three of her collages, Tender loving care, The air that I breathe, and We can work it out, all created in 2023.
